U17 Boys Finish 3 rd in Inter-International Basketball

Our Under 17 Boys, led by Captain Jack Shearer, capped off a highly successful term for our Basketball teams by finishing 3 rd in their Inter-International Schools’ tournament. They finished top of their group after an impressive victory over a good team from Asian International School and easy win over Lyceum, Ratnapura. They won their Quarter-Final against Lyceum, Nugegoda very comfortably to reach the Semi-Final. In a close match against CIS, the boys were ahead at the end of both the first quarter and first half but were unable to close out the win. A victory over Horizon College in the Consolation Final earned them Bronze Medals. Our team stood out for their teamwork: tight defence kept their opposition out and superb passing created easy shooting opportunities. A lot of the other team’s coaches were watching and taking notes.

Earlier in the term, both our Under 15 Boys’ and Girls’ teams reached the Semi-Final of their tournaments. After winning matches against Asian International School and Wycherley, Gampaha in the group stage, our Girls’ team pulled off a shock 16-15 win against tournament favourites Gateway College, Colombo in the Quarter-Final, but lost in the semi-final to the British School. The Boys’ team enjoyed impressive victories against Lyceum, Wattala and Asian International School in the group stage, before an easy win against Stafford took them to the Semi-Final, which they unfortunately lost.
