Team Sri Lanka Finish 11 th in Panama

After working throughout the holidays and almost every day this term, including weekends, to design, build and test their robot, Risini Fernando, Lithum Hettiarachchi, Lisara Jeewandara, Kavindu Pathirage and Captain Tharul Senanayake travelled to Panama in October to represent Sri Lanka in the FIRST Global Challenge, accompanied by Mr. Shivashankaran Satchithananthan and Mrs. Lakshani Goonewardena.

Team Sri Lanka qualified for the play-offs after finishing 11 th out of the 181 countries taking part. They were partnered with Spain, Bahamas and China but this alliance only finished 5 th , after an unfortunate technical mishap in one of the matches, so narrowly missed the finals. The students should be proud of performing so well in such a competitive event and of all the hard work they put into preparing. Thanks to them, Sri Lanka continues to punch above its weight on the international stage.
