High School Musical Jr. Lights Up the Stage!

Our recent production of High School Musical Jr. was a vibrant celebration of talent, teamwork and school spirit! Performed to packed audiences on both nights, the show buzzed with excitement from the very first “Wildcats!” cheer. The cast delivered electric energy, polished choreography and heartfelt performances that brought the beloved Disney musical to life. Special credit goes to Avlok Wignaraja, whose confident stage presence, strong vocals and impressive dance moves anchored the show, and Sethumi Wickramamunige, whose warmth and sincerity lit up every scene. Khaya Umagiliya dazzled as Sharpay Evans, bringing sharp comedic flair, bold character choices and show-stopping confidence to the stage. This was the final school production for Avi and Khaya, who have lit up the stage and entertained audiences since they were at the Junior School. They will be missed next year.

Other Upper 6 th students also showed maturity and leadership both on and off stage in their final school production. Clement Deane commanded attention as Mrs. Darbus with impeccable timing and theatrical presence, while Rajindu Normanbhoy delivered a compelling performance as Coach Bolton. Our talented dance captains, Sanuki Suraweera and Upekha Gunawansa, led the choreography with energy and precision.

The ensemble was equally essential to the show’s success – from energetic basketball sequences to lively cafeteria scenes, every performer added colour, movement and personality to the world of East High. What a truly unforgettable production!
